My husband& I have the same problem: Not able to actually REPLY to emails w. images attached.Unable to "send" reply unless we delete images
I cannot believe we are the only two people with this problem .We aren't using the same PCs (his is desktop, mine is laptop). You told me to contact Tech Support and then you closed the issue to comments. I'd like to see if others have the same problem. This is an AOL problem. My husband WAS able to reply w. attachments recently when he went to AOL thru Internet Explorer.

This is my newest problem with AOL. I can't reply at all w/o this message:
It says "mail failed to send due to error 440:13004".

I am having the exact same problem. Once I went to AOL gold, everything good about AOL fell apart.

Same problem. Went to reply to an email and received this error message. No attachments or anything embedded. Just a simple email reply.

yes, I am having the same issues.
here's an example: I send a mail with embedded and an attachment of pictures, and then the person I sent that to replies back to me.........I read their message, then choose to reply back to them, it flat out will not send, until I go in and delete all of the embedded images. sometimes, it still won't send, unless I go in and delete all the text too, except for what I'm saying in that reply.
This is sooo aggravating.
what used to be a few hours to send and reply to my mails, is now taking sometimes twice as long.

I have a screen shot to show you what happens when I try to reply, but I can't insert it here. It says "mail failed to send due to error 440:13004". Does that help define what's happening?

It definitely happens when the pictures are inserted/ embedded. It may occur when pix are attached as a jpg file, but I'm not positive about that. Sometimes attached files do show up in my emails even though they were only attached.
Yes, I get some sort of Error box that pops up whenever I try to reply to one of those emails, stating that my email cannot be sent. Thanks for helping !
