Email addresses
when putting in an address, all prior versions of AOL, the address would be saved. Then it would only require a few letters to be recalled. Now it does nothing. You have to continue to memorize every email address. What was wrong with 9.7. Can we not have a better version than Gold?
Hey,
Thanks for reaching out. As long as a contact is saved, their email address should populate as an option in a dropdown box as you start typing it. More information about adding email recipients to your messages can be located here: https://help.aol.com/articles/add-remove-cc-and-bcc-recipients-to-an-email-in-aol-desktop-gold
We hope this helps clarify the situation.
Sincerely,
AOL Product Support

AOL by default will add "@aol.com" to an incomplete email address entered on the "To" / addressee line of an email. For example, if a user enters ABC on the "to" line of an email without adding the domain name, if you send the email before correcting ABC to the proper address, the AOL email system will add @aol.com to the end of ABC and send it to that address. This "auto fill" process should be eliminated from the AOL system process. The system should instead notify the sender that "ABC" is an incorrect address and prompt them to correct ABC to include the proper domain name before the email is sent. There are countless domain names in the email universe and AOL should not assume the intended recipient is in the AOL domain. This auto fill practice runs the risk of distributing sender information to the wrong individual and ultimately poses a security risk. Please consider eliminating this system default setting from the AOL email processing system.

Why did you remove a most convenient feature that only required typing the first few letters of an email address to auto-populate suggestions from our list of contacts?
This is a big step backwards in the ease and enjoyment of your paying subscribers using AOL GOLD software.
Not Good!!!

I've used the same screen name and e-mail address sincw starting my aol account
jovak@aol.com. Now another user is using my screen name and e-mail address.
I've had my account since 92 or 93. jovak has been my radio call sign since 1969.
AOL should have told (jASON S.) he was using a screen name that already existed.

Totally agree. First few letters only like it used to be, otherwise a huge list shows up and there is a risk of sending to wrong person. I have had this happen many times despite trying to be careful and checking email before hitting send.

Searching for email addresses is tedious. A search for emails should start with the first letters of an address and not include every single address with that letter in it. One has to almost type in the entire address first. If I want "MArianne" I get gunterMAn, aMAnda, saMAntha, carMAn etc. Such a stupid way to search.

Also in the old version if you sent your mail the original email stayed and you could just change the names in the box to different people you wanted to now it disappears and you have to rewrite it. There was a tab that said save mail sent that you could click on in your advanced mail preferences which has been removed ....very annoying!

Why can't I edit an Address Book entry. I want to change an email and click on save, but it won't save. Very frustrating.
