Is there a read receipt feature?
A read receipt feature is needed.
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, due to privacy concerns we don’t plan on adding a read receipt feature at the moment.
Sincerely,
AOL Product Support

Please return the feature when an e-mail is sent to another on aol ... I'd like to know if it has been opened or read.

AOL is charging an extra $3.95 for the "search and recover" feature to retrieve deleted emails and files. I'd be willing to pay that each month for the RETURN of the ability to see if my emails have been read !!!!!

You've been 'gathering feedback' on this topic since you introduced Gold without the ability to see if our mail has been read. This is a big deal, and you are unresponsive. I assume you hope we'll just get tired of asking for its return. No. Just what do you have to offer your customers these days better than all the other companies that are FREE! Meanwhile the only change you have made is so we can have some dippy designed stationary. Kid stuff. BRING BACK THE ABILITY TO SEE IF OUR SENT MAIL HAS BEEN READ. This is vital, and I loathe what AOL has become.

Please restore AOL God's read receipt feature I found his invaluable, and, it was one of the reasons i used AOL Gold. I cannot fathom why you removed it. Thank you!

Driving me crazy not to know whether mail sent has been read. This is vital information. What was the point of removing this from Aol Gold. I am paying you $300 a year for a 'service' that has nothing more to recommend it than other companies that are FREE!! You need to give your customers something that others are not in order to get 1. company loyalty 2. Customers that are not going to leave because you have removed anything that made you unique and useful. I am beyond angry and frustrated.

I asked this question before but it has NEVER been answered. Do they even read any of this? AOL sit up and take notice of what we want and deliver.
Why was the status feature for sent mail removed?
Please bring back the mail status option. I need to know that mail I send is received/read. -

I also would like to mention that I miss the status feature on my sent mail to other AOL users.

The only reason I stayed on AOL was the ability to check the status of sent email. In fact, I think it's safe to say that this is the ONLY reason people still kept an AOL email address. I relied on it for business AND volunteer services. If AOL is slowly fazing out, as is the rumour, then be honest and say so. This was a MAJOR service that was disabled. I'm very upset and I'm sure I'm in good company.

I agree overwhelmingly with the comments below. The 'Status' function of AOL Gold is the ONLY reason I still use this unreliable service.........and you have disabled it, AGAIN. It is a necessary function. Is anyone out there listening??? Does anybody CARE. Your customers obviously find it a necessary and positive part of their email experience. You know AOL has the reputation of being used only by 'old' people. Wouldn't it be nice if you tried to work on your own reputation and made AOL something people would really want to have. It would enhance your reputation, bring you more customers, and make your present customers happy. WHAT A CONCEPT!!!! PUT STATUS BACK!!!!!!!!

Without the read receipt AOL no longer works for me. It was one of the top things that has kept me a member since the late 90's. Without it, (added to everything else that is wrong here) there is no reason for me to stay here and pay. In addition, many of the mails I send are never received by the recipient. This was a way to check and feel secure.

Am tired of asking for status (opened, received, deleted etc) on sent mail to be reinstated.
It was not there when we went to AOL Gold and they finally worked in it and now it is gone again. This is a ncessary item and I don't feel I would like to continue paying for my AOL if they keep messing with stuff that works. No reason has been given for removing it.
Please reinstate it! -

why would your new software not continue the read receipt feature....put it back ASAP it's a very useful feature which we always use to verify the mail has been received. also, if the receiver is also AOL, you can check if they opened and when.......TAKE NOTE!! RRolnick @ cOM -

Read Receipt (status bar) has disappeared. AGAIN.
Who the ____ is messing with your software?
ANOTHER THING: When I send BLIND COPY mail I can no longer see who it was sent to in my sent box when I click on the email I sent.
WHAT IS GOING ON??????????? -

These days AOL is so unpredictable for what might work, a read receipt would be nice just so we know our emails were actually received. I can see them in my sent folder but I have had numerous people not receive an email and after waiting days for their response, I am told they never got the first email I sent. The opposite problem is when I send one email and they get two identical emails.

I also agree that the status button should come back. It is one of the features that was good about AOL. Why would they DECREASE functionality?

Bill Wells commented
Agree. There used to be a "status" button to check that your message to an AOL user, at least, had been received. That is gone now. I needed that feature countless times over the years. Please bring back the status button for mail.

I am finding it hard to function on AOL without the Status button to see if my mail was received and read. Especially since not all the mails I send are received to the people I write to. I work with an animal rescue and it it critical that I know if my mail was received/read by the people wanting to adopt. AOL no longer works for me.
