When will things work as they used to
I just wasted over an hour trying to sign into Gold. After the little white box appeared two blue circles would freeze and got message "not responding", yet every other website I tried was no issue.
I finally wasted more time calling Tech Support and reporting the issue. Other than trying to sell me some check up program I do not need, wanting to reinstall which I had done a short time ago making no difference in all the problems and filing a case number, that was it.
I again reported my seven carousel icons which are moved every time I sign on and need to be manually moved back to where I want them. Every time Gold magically signs out, I have to repeat process. Not to mention on three occasions when I was signed out for nothing I did, emails I had started to write now appear on every sign on. This is from months ago. I can't get rid of them by deleting or trying to send. They just reappear with the dreaded news page on the welcome screen each sign on.
I also asked the Tech when the mouse forward/backward buttons will work like they used to, Tech said no reports of problem. It's nice to say AOL has Techs, but if they can't fix issues, what is the point? I was told if issues aren't fixed, call back with my case number, and then what? It is a vicious circle of people complaining about problems and AOL dismissing them. How is it that the mouse button fix which I was told would work by Dec 2017 and it still isn't fixed, I have complained and reported numerous times and Tech says there is no report to this issue? Come on AOL, get your act together. Wouldn't it be easier to get things fixed so they work like they used to rather than wasting everyone's time trying work arounds, reinstalling and complaining?
Please send us a crash report in order for our engineers to look into the issue you are experiencing with the software closing unexpectedly. To do that, please follow these steps:
1. Open AOL Desktop Gold.
2. Click on Help on the top right, and select Report a Bug from the drop-down menu.
3. Type a short description of the problem, and click Send.

Update to yesterday morning's complaint. Came back to computer in the evening and it took a long time for welcome screen to load again. Again the usual closing out of old emails that won't go away and welcome screen and move Icons back where they belong. Within the evening time use on at least two occasions I was watching a You Tube video and poof, everything just completely disappeared in an instant with no warning. No freeze first, no verbal goodbye, icon on task bar also disappeared like someone unplugged AOL. Other open browser was not affected, so not my computer. So again had to sign back on and go thru all of the tasks of waiting for AOL to load, get rid of welcome screen and misc emails and fix tool bar icons. This morning, same slow loading and time wasting routine tasks just to start using AOL. It never used to be like this with 9.7. I would sign on and AOL was ready to use immediately.
Also when the mailbox annoying flashing ads used to be on the bottom it was easy to slide that low as to not to be seen. Now I stretch mailbox length of desktop to at least move away from my most direct distracting line of sight, but the ads are very annoying and for people sensitive to flashing and migraines, this is not a good thing. As paying users, they should either not be there at all or should at least be able to be hidden better. Not sure what the point of having them on mailbox even is as no one would risk clicking on any ad and if anything would be deterred from using whatever company has advertisements there due to being so annoyed with them just being there. I can honestly say I have never stopped to read any of those ads and instead use my favorites drop down list to hide them from my view once mailbox is stretched as far as it will go to the right.
