MORE RE: Backup and Transfer PFC to a different computer
You recently sent me an update re: transferring PFC to another computer using export and import. The text of the message seems clear, however in the linked article, there is still reference to exporting/importing the PFC from a previous version of AOL Desktop.
Which is it?
Does the procedure you've sent now allow for transferring the CURRENT PFC file to a different computer? If so, great. But in my case, with one problem remaining. The then-current PFC on my computer was wiped out (written over) when the AOL tech moved the prior version PFC to my current computer - a three-month-old file (recall we were FORCED to upgrade to GOLD). I have lost 3+ months of saved mail.
How can AOL recover the then-current PFC from my computer (the one on which I'm writing to you) thus recovering those 3 months email?
Please respond to both items here:
1. Does the just-announced transfer procedure copy the CURRENT PFC????
2. How can AOL recover the then-current PFC when the tech over-wrote the PFC when he said it was "No Problem"?
Back up and restore the Personal Filing Cabinet so that it can be transferred to a new computer!!!!!!!!!

The option to Import and export your personal data to a file that can be copied to another computer is now available.
To export your personal data file, go to Edit – General Settings – My Data (tab) – click on the “Export” button, select a location where you want to save the PFC file, then click “Save”. After this you will be given the option to create a password for the personal data file.
The .export file can be moved to another computer, using an external storage device or online file storage service, and can be imported in AOL Desktop Gold, by going to Edit – General Settings – My Data (tab) – and clicking on the “Import” button (the previously created password is required).
Please note that the .export PFC file cannot be opened, and in order to access its content, you will have to use the “Import” feature.

The article provided in the response you received, contains 3 sections. The first one titled ‘Import and export mail and personal data to another computer’ explains how to use the Import and Export feature, that will allow you to create a back-up (Export) of your current personal data file, and how to Import it.
The second section refers to the ‘Import Wizard’ feature that allows you to import mail from an older version of the AOL Desktop installed on your computer.
The third section explains how to manually import a Personal Filling Cabinet file from an older version of the AOL Desktop.
