    I would like to give this suggestion a bump. The concept is so simple that everything has been said. Please move the priority up on this suggestion.

    Excellent suggestion! I am annoyed every time I have to either click in the box and backspace or highlight and delete my search string. Thanks.

    i second this idea. Now it is a two-step process: either click at the end of the field and backspace or select the phrase and delete it. As the suggestion says, a Clear button or an "X" would make this much easier.
