failure notices
I AM SENDING EMAIL TO A BUNCH OF FRIENDS AND NOW AM GETTING FAILURE NOTICES. BESIDE EACH NAME IS THE PERSON'S REAL FIRST NAME, FOR EXAMPLE *@AOL.COM, ONLY THE FAILURE NOTICE LISTS IT AS *@AOL.COM, *@AOL.COM. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? IT CERTAINLY ISN'T HOW I'VE BEEN SENDING EMAIL TO THE SAME GROUP OF FRIENDS FOR YEARS. NOW I'VE GOT 9 FAILURE NOTICES AND ONE AUTO RESPONSE FROM SOMEONE NAMED *@AOL.COM WITH A LINK INCLUDED. OF COURSE I DIDN'T CLICK THE LINK. WTF IS GOING ON???
I’d like to have one of our Technical Support agents investigate this. Please call our AOL Desktop Gold team at 1-888-265-3733.

Any SMTP server responding in a 554 code means the MTA didn't accept the message. This would be caused by anything from exceeding your rate limits (sending mail too often), to the recipient blocking you. Troubleshoot - this is probably user error.
