AOL gold freezes every day
Everyday AOL GOLD freezes up and I have to use Google. Why am I paying you to use your desktop if it does not work!! YOU SHOULD BE PAYING ME TO USE AOL GOLD!!! Don't force people to use this ****! FIX IT ALREADY!! I AM PAYING YOU 3.99 a MONTH SO IS EVERYONE ELSE!!!
Thank you for your report, our engineers are actively working on the issues you have described.
Please follow the steps:
1. Open AOL Desktop Gold→Export the data by going to Edit→General Settings→My Data→Export/Backup→Select the location for your backup and then Save→Click on “OK” without entering a password→Wait until the export finishes.
2. If AOL Desktop Gold does not launch or it freezes right away→Go to the search bar on the lower left corner on Windows and type “Run”→Type in the Run box the word “appdata” then OK→Click on “Local”→Go to “AOLDesktopData”→Right click on the folder called “db” and select “Copy” and paste it on the Desktop screen.
3. Then, go back to Local→Right click on “AOLDesktopData” and then select “Rename” and type in “AOLDesktopData1”.
4. Uninstall the current AOL Desktop Gold version by going to Control Panel→Programs and features (Windows 7) or Apps and Features (Windows 10).
5. Install AOL Desktop Gold by going to mybenefits.aol.com, or myaccount.aol.com using Chrome, Edge, Firefox, IE or other browser.
6. If you have the same issues as before completing these troubleshooting steps, then please file a report by going to Help→Report a bug and explain in detail what seems to be happening.
I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!! I'm SO SICK of my AOL GOLD Not working. I've been a paying customer since aol began! People laugh at my aol address. But I've had it for my business frm the beginning. I would have to change my contact info to hundreds of customers.

I go to a free site to get my mail so the program does not freeze. FREE SITE!
I have to sign on my screen name and put in my password as the program does not remember me

Having same issues with my account. Everything else is working in Gold but the email.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE THIS IS HUGE! And going on for weeks, probably longer. AOL Desktop gold is becoming unusable.. Getting to mail takes FOREVER. I have several emails associated with this account, and the work email (abcontrol) is unusable. It takes so long to even sign in to the account, that I can't even use it. This is my WORK email. I'm PAYING for this. PLEASE PLEASE fix this. I can see I'm not the only one with this issue. What has happened? PLEASE FIX. Why should I have to use another browser and use mail.aol.com when I'm paying for this. PLEASE FIX. This is madness.
SO - WITH THIS MANY USERS ISSUING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, IT IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE AOL GOLD SOFTWARE. ONE TECH TOLD ME IS WAS BECAUSE OF WINDOWS 10 UPDATES CHANGING AND THE SOFTWARE NOT KEEPING UP. THIS WAS AFTER RUNNING IT THROUGH SAFE MODE. YOUR TECHS ARE OF NO HELP. REPORTING A BUG HAS BEEN USELESS.
Everyday AOL GOLD Mail freezes up and I have to use the online free version to access my mail. This started a month ago and is horrible. I have read your ways to fix it and have called your techs to help and it works for a day then the same thing happens again. Please fix this already. I have been an AOL user for over 20 years and never ever had this problem. If this bug isn't fixed quickly I will have to find another email platform.
this freezing and extremely slow response time and hanging with aol gold is so frustrating, what the heck is going on. Please fix it. I am having more luck with mail.aol.com, but that is not why I chose to stay with aol gold NOR to PAY for this each month. Please help, my gosh, PLEASE help.
IT HAS BECOME PAINFUL TO USE DESKTOP GOLD. I DON'T KNOW WHOSE BRIGHT IDEA THIS FORMAT WAS BUT IT DOESN'T WORK AND YOU WON'T GIVE IT UP SO WE CAN ACTUALLY ENJOY USING AOL. I HAVE TO REBOOT AND EVEN THEN IT DOESN'T WORK. AOL SHOULD BE FAST, SMOOTH AND WITHOUT ISSUES. IT COSTS MONEY. WHY ARE YOU CHARGING MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T WORK? IF I DIDN'T HAVE INFORMATION IN AOL SINCE 1998, I WOULD DROP YOU LIKE A HOT POTATO. FIX IT ALREADY!
Same here. Keep reporting the bug between folders, but nothing here ever gets fixed. Same with constant freezes, emails that have to be opened several times so that they can be read and not grey or black. Takes 20 minutes to just get AOL to open each morning, keep getting "not responding" and sends info to Microsoft. Way too much SPAM coming thru, emails are so obvious, AOL should be blocking. Can't read sent emails after they are sent. Can't send more than two small photos in email body any more. Limits attachment size to send.
I have new computer and no issues with anything except GOLD. Never had problems with 9.6 but since GOLD was forced on us, it has never been the same. With everyone having same complaints, not sure why three years later, it still does not work.
Like so many others of 25 years of being with AOL, this is the worst I'v ever seen it. I end up having to go to google (mail.aol.com) to get my work email because using desktop gold constantly freezes and is unusable. What the heck. And, I'm paying for this. PLEASE FIX THIS. ALREADY DONE ALL THAT, WASTE OF TIME. DOES NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, ALREADY REPORTED BUG TO NO AVAIL! QUICK FIND STILL STOPS WORKING AFTER REBOOTING AOL. AFTER THAT, ALL TAB FUNCTIONS START SLOWING DOWN AFTER CONTINUED USE!
TOGGLING FROM SENT MAIL TO NEW OR OLD TAKES AN ETERNITY AND A DISPLAY OF AOL NOT RESPONDING. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT VERIZON WAS SMART... UPPPER MANAGEMENT SHOULD CONSIDER HIRING SOME TEENAGERS FOR THE FIX...

aol desktop gold takes a quite a while to load, especially the emails and most times the search box is loading very slowly as well. This happens on all of my computers no matter where I am. None of my other programs exhibit this behavior. This issue started in the last 5 months or so. I am not happy and will leave AOL if this isn't resolved. Further, I have been so inconvenienced that I am requesting an account manager to reach out to me for an account credit due to the issues. I should not be paying for an inferior service!
For the last month tab functions (New, Old, Sent, Quick Find) in my mailbox start slowing down/freezing up after about 15-30 min. of continued use; rebooting AOL refreshes function momentarily and the cycle repeats.
Have contacted customer support 5 times; have re-installed software 3 times, reduced stored emails to <1000 email, etc. to no avail. Was told to contact AOL Gold Team but can never get anyone to answer after very long holds. Was also told it could be a conflict with windows 10 update. Submitted bug reports to no avail. Please help!
After the Oct 19 AOL GOLD DESKTOP UPDATE, i am now experiencing 1. blank emails and 2. EXTREMELY slow opening and EXTREMELY slow mailbox opening. I understand one of the '\fixes' is supposed to address the blank emails but I am getting blank emails AFTER the fix. What to do...???

The desktop freezing has gotten so bad I am using Outlook to read my mail - if I am going to be forced to do that I will be canceling my account after nearly 25 years. May as well just use Outlook email or Gmail for free.
I'm close to ending my 20 plus years of using AOL....I've taken flak for still having it, but I've always said...it's a good product and I am loyal....If I'm using google to get my aol email...why bother paying for it?
Why is does it take so long to upload older emails or those previously sent. Also when using search box it types very slow. Tried contacting AOL Tech Support via phone at least ten times at various times of day and always get response that "due to heavier that expected demand......." I have waited up to 1/2 hour and no one ever answers. Been customer since AOL started and ready to move on. How do you get to talk to a tech and I am paying $4.99 a month for tech support that will be stopped.
