When opening mail that window is now larger and causing extra borders at the right side and bottom of screen. When finished reading all mail and closing mail box the borders stay and the only way to get rid of them is close the Welcome screen and reopen it and those extra borders go away. Put the mail window back the way it was and no borders will appear.

The recent degradation in your desktop Gold software is incredibly troubling and very annoying. The enlarged and color highlighted area that now appears when the cursor contacts an email line is beyond distracting and incredibly disruptive. Based on what I heard when I called in to get the problem fixed I am far from alone in feeling that this change is a horrible idea. Please restore the prior operation parameters immediately. Foolish, but of lesser importance. Replacing the universal email flag with a star? Really? To what end. What makes this idea better? Making changes like these in your software without consulting or warning users demonstrates an astounding disrespect for paying customers. Managers need to understand change in and of itself is not good. If you go to bed and do not wake up that change is not good. If your car works fine when you drive to work and the engine blows about halfway to the job that change is not good. Management should strive for improvement, not just random, non-beneficial, and unwelcome "change". Change for the sake of change is virtually never beneficial. If you want to do something beneficial create a method for saved emails to be kept by users on their own machines and in their own online backup. Very disappointed multi-decade subscriber. Please get rid of that absolutely terrible orange highlight! It's ugly, annoying and distracting. Does AOL try out new ideas on a focus group before releasing them? I can't imagine anyone liking this orange highlight.
