Make spell check work correctly
Make spell check work like it did in the past
AOL Desktop Gold has a new way of spell checking your emails. This is done automatically, in real time, as you compose your messages.
When the AOL Desktop Gold detects a spelling error, the word is highlighted by a red line under it. (Click the link below to see an image for an example)
To correct the spelling error, right-click the word and select one of the options provided. (Click the link below to see an image for an example)

Apparently no one at AOL is working to correct the spell check issue which has not worked for over 2 weeks. NOOOOO one at AOL has addressed this issue other than to say a mispelled work is underlined in RED. That's it...underlined in red with NO corrected version. I agree with most comments on this page...Get rid of AOL GOLD or your customers will get rid of AOL...it's that bad over the past few months...

When one is asked to pay $5 a month for a service that doesn't work properly...and inundated with ads every time you do something...think AOL is doomed to die. Will probably move on shortly after being one of the original users... AOL just doesn't seem to care about service levels anymore...

I type the word "dimensia." It is underlined for the misspelling. I o to spell check and it tells me the correct spelling is dimension.
Unbelievable that even this doesn't work. What good is AOL these days?

When writing an email, the new version of AOL points out words it thinks is misspelled. BUT IT HAS NO OPTION TO ADD IT TO THE DICTIONARY, AS ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS HAD. Please quickly add this feature!

Allow the User to type in a corrected word (in spell check) and not the word AOL chooses which is not appropriate for the sentence.

Why do you not have a DICTIONARY in GOLD? You only have a SUGGESTION list. However if the name or the way I wish to spell that word is not on the suggestion list, there is no way to save it in a true dictionary for all the many times I need to use that particular word. .Also that QUESTIONABLE word cannot be changed. There is no cursor to indicate that the QUESTIONABLE word may be changed and also while clicking on to SETTINGS there is no place to create a dictionary for future words or names that I mean to use over and over again. PLEASE CORRECT THAT. IT IS SO IMPORTANT.IN WRITING A LETTER. Just as one would need a true dictionary while wring a manual letter. Gold should have improved the perfect 9.8.2 not make Ihings more difficult. TAKE OUT THE OLD METHOD AND IMPROVE IT NOT MAKE THINGS WORSE. You should have never released this GOLD program when ALL (EVERYONE OF YOUR REPRESENTATIVES) told me that the GOLD program was not completed. Why were we forced to use it?? AND WHY WAS THERE NO 'SPELL CHECK' WHILE WRITING THIS NOTE TO YOU??? OR WILL YOU EVEN ANSWER THIS??

Have AOL Gold spell check work like it did with the old AOL. It takes twice as long to send an e-mail because I have to read it a second time to correct spelling errors. With the old AOL I could spell check and correct at the same time.

When I use a word that the dictionary doesn't have I would like to save it to a dictionary so that the next time I use the word it's not "flagged." Mahalo
