Compliments!
Most of the posts here are rants from deluded people who always complain, so it should be stated that AOL does a LOT of things right. The problem is that so many folks are resistant to change of any kind. I've worked ISP technical support, so trust me I get it. AOL seems to be on the right track with many products. Desktop Gold is excellent. It keeps the user-friendly classic aesthetic that we all love, but updated so much under the hood. I mean, Chromium CEF browser framework, Vulkan renderer??? This is honestly top-tier stuff. They're using NuGet packages for install/updaters! Seriously, this is the RIGHT WAY to code a browser. The intricate nuances of the entire "suite" keep improving over time. Yep, there are bugs. That's normal with any development chain, but this company actually reads, reviews, and gives feedback from the users to their devops teams. Probably on a daily basis. I mean, these developers work tirelessly to put out at least one or two entire new builds every month. They even work releasing software around the holidays! As for mail. The email service offers a terabyte of storage, full IMAP/SMTP access, really reasonable rate-limits and attachment quotas and a pretty solid mobile app as well. Contacts has a great Address Book built into Desktop Gold, but also a really respectable web interface built into the new webmail. Contacts supports CardDAV??? Like, that's awesome! Calendar can be a little learning curve if you're used to Gmail or Outlook but seriously rocks once you get the hang of it. It also supports CalDAV which is a really nice thing to have. Basically none of the features offered are even expected but they are so good and well-implemented that all I have to say is thank you. Yes, I'm an average user to AOL. I'm just posting this because I've been on this forum for a long time and have been an AOL user / beta tester for a while too. I have to say that I'm very happy and will be staying. Keep doing what you do, it's good!
