Restore the old spam settings. Now we only have one setting.
First you took away stationery and vast choice of fonts, emojis, etc. Then you changed how mail is set up (from new, old, sent, spam, deleted mail to current style) and the Spam settings from numerous choices to only one (blocked). it seems the longer we continue to PAY for AOL Gold, the less we are getting for our money. I see by the Feedback that I'm far from alone in feeling AOL Gold does not seem "golden" to your PAYING customers.
Hey,
Wanted to let you all know that you now have the ability to block mail from unwanted senders. Please click the link here to learn more: https://help.aol.com/articles/keep-your-inbox-clean-by-blocking-unwanted-mail-in-aol-desktop-gold

Another day, another 100 spam attack ADS to our inbox. These emails are automated and robotic with dozens of jumbled letters as the sender.
AOL has the technology to stop these attacks by blocking prior to receipt. The question is are they on holiday vacation or working for their customers who pay monthly fees for security of our inboxes??? Take action AOL !!!!!!!!!!!

Nora commented
Way back when, if you wanted to block an address, all you did was type in a key word. Now you have to type in the entire email address. Well, this does not work...it does not save. I keep getting filthy emails that I have never gone to, nor ever would. I try to block, but they address does not save under "block spam." Now what? Go back to the original way of blocking, putting in a key word, e.g., happy, kiss, follow, bounce, etc.

How do spammers get our email address? Doesn't our monthly payment include basic protections? Other email services provide it with NO monthly charge.

What does it take to get the SPAM machinery to work on AOL Gold? I keep typing in e-mail addresses, sending whole blocks of Spam to "Delete", and yet I continually get more by people or groups using the same basic e-mail starters like "newsletter@, or contact@", and for **** I definitely don't want like CBD or something to make my ***** grow, or finding a new girlfriend. Yet these and other junk that I constantly relegate to the trash pile keep piling through. You guys clearly ain't doing your job for paying members.

I followed all directions the new Gold says to do to block spam email. The problem is that when I click on "Block Unwanted Mail" there is no further filtering. the “Block mail containing specific words and phrases” option does not exist. I see all of the past mail I blocked on the old AOL version, and I can add the new ones, but there is nothing on the page that allows me to "SAVE:" what I type. The spam control is unusable. Please tell me how I can delete the new Gold and reload it. I tried that, but the Gold keeps coming back. I can't uninstall and reinstall it. That means that every problem I have with the Gold (and there are too many to tell you here) still exists. I can't get rid of them if AOL won't let me uninstall and reinstall. I can't uninstall all of it so that I can reinstall a new copy. The Gold AOL STINKS, STINKS, STINKS! The best thing you could do for us is to give us the options of having the NEW GOLD or returning to the previous version, which was totally excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the first time with the new Gold AOL, I want to block spam. The problem is that I can type in the spam address, but there is no place on the page where I can type to save the list. The previous version allowed me to save. This one does not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need a "Save" button on the Blocking Emails tab so we can add new addresses! Thanks!

It used to be available...and I believe you can bring it back:
For example:
I subscribe to several health info services BUT do not wish to receive dozens of gender-specific emails per week regarding the quality of an erection...
With email blocking by keyword in subject line as AOL had before I could enter "erection" "hard as steel" "*** dust" "******", etcWhat a lot fewer emails to manually delete!! C'mon....we PAY for this.

I'm gearing up to switch to outlook. AOL just keeps striping features away. AOL has become an embarresment for my email account. I now have NO control for spam - that's why I think they are promoting spam.
As a PAYING member this is a rip off they are milking to the end - and yes I do expect AOL to fold in the near future - thank you OATH. -

You can't convince me that you can't do something about the volume of spam we're receiving. They're the equivalent of robocalls. Why can't AOL block them without selling us a service to do so? They're mostly newsletters of various types. I got over 25 of them yesterday and so far today about 8. And that's only under one user name.

I recently had my mailbox hacked. I received a large Dropbox file from a person known to me. I made the mistake of opening it! 10 days later, the same file was sent to my entire address book.

GO GET / BLOCK THESE BASTARDS!!!

J. Padulo commented
I seem to get a lot of spam and I continually try to "unsubscribe" which is a pain in the hat, particularly when there are two places at the bottom of each unwanted ad, each of which require that I insert my email address. Two suggestions - in that the sender knows my email address and also knows the mfg'r (the actual vendor) AND the agent forwarding the email - 1) combine both "unsubscribes" into one unsubscribe & 2) eliminate the need to type my email address at all and merely provide a single button to UNSUBSCRIBE. Do so would please everyone - the Mgf'r who made the product can advertise, the agent can collect his fee for peddling its mailing list and in passing I would just have to click a button.

Ridiculously poor spam filter. I click "This is Not Spam" over and over and over again for email from the same source and NOTHING changes. Couldn't possibly be worse. Disgraceful! How hard is it to allow users to turn it OFF!!!! And to think I'm paying for this?

Yet another admin@...., fix@...., lan@...., goldwild@...., from@...., random number or character@...., support@.... type spam email. Do something AOL!
How many of these BS emails (currently 100+ GoldWild. ////////////) will it take for AOL to deny all mail from this list? You've got to have an electronic way to sort out these BS mass mailers or fix the filter to allow me to name their @website.domain or the GoldWild name as an automatic delete filter!

I have had 290 spam emails - I repeat 290 spams!!! - arrive in my "Spam Folder" since Sept 1st (only 12 days ago). That's almost 25 a day! How are these generated? If our only control is blocking each spam as it arrives, how can I possibly block all that??? What else can be done? By the way, my husband gets none!!! So, why me? What's going on? Enough is enough! What am I paying for?
