AOL Spam settings are absolutely garbage. I am getting SPAM sent to me by my own email address, explain this AOL? Your SPAM settings should allow users to manage email addresses as they see fit. What happened to we could easily identify official AOL mail by the colored ICON/ subject line? Now I get Spam from an official looking AOL email address along with my own email address and the Spam controls will not update any new addresses I try to block.

Here I am with 2 tabs open, I can go back and forth opening articles, but when I try to access Equibase.com which is only on horses, it freezes up and refuses to load. "Timed out", "Oops...something went wrong" or the page goes white and I sit here watching a little blue circle go around. Gold has an anniversary coming up, which is THREE HUNDRED revisions since I signed up in January. What's up with a browser that still crashes??? Did everybody but me already move on to a better browser???

Love the new emojis, but when I send them to people, all they get are triangles!
Every email client sends emojis as Unicode, a string of letters and numbers that are assigned to a particular emoji graphic. The job of rendering the Unicode is done by the recipient’s email client/application. Sometimes these applications are not up to date, and cannot render the Unicode properly, therefor the emoji will be replaced by a broken graphic icon.

Cannot Copy URL to EMAIL and Link Be Active When Clicked On By Receiver Of Email
Copy URL -- Place on Email to send -- the URL link does not show blue - you send email-- person getting it - still does not show blue link - just black -- clicks on URL to go to site-- NOTHING HAPPENS
You cannot copy and paste a URL onto an email and it be an active link when clicked on. If you copy and place on site as a blog it works fine. You have a problem when link copied and transferred to email-- NEEDS TO BE FIXED as this has been happening -- report it and it…To insert a hyperlink in your email, first open a Write mail window, then click on the “Insert/edit link” button below the subject line (next to the Picture button).

email address displays my account name???
Just show user name to recipient when I send a message. Stop attaching my account name to message sent with a user name. When I send email via a new user name I set up for coordinating messages for a group, my personal name shows up along with the New User Name. Why???. if I wanted to send a message with my name on it I wouldn't have set up a separate user name and paid for it???
In order to remove your display name, follow these steps:
1. Click on the ‘Mail’ menu on the top left.
2. Select ‘Mail Settings’ from the drop-down menu.
3. Erase the name from the ‘Display Name’ field, and close the window (changes are saved automatically). -
Feedback -- changed computers and Desktop Gold as a dwnload could not be found. I am accessing you through another ISP. I do not like that
Desktop Gold met my requirements. I get a new computer and I cannot reach you except through another ISP. This is unpleasant and ridiculous. FIX IT.

Restoring Favorites
I saved my Favorites to my computer in case something happened I could restore them, well I deleted a folder by accident and when I went to the saved ones to restore the folder it won't open up, it keeps wanting me to save it again and again and it wont open the favorites I saved. How do I get the saved one to open up??
Please follow these steps:
1. Open the Favorite Places window.
2. Click Manage.
3. Select one of the following:
-Replace: Use this to replace your current Favorites with your backup copy or Favorites from your other Username.
-Append: Use this option to add to your existing list with your backup copy or Favorites from your other Username.
4. Navigate to the Favorites file that you saved, click the file to highlight it, and then click Open.
5. Close the Favorite Places window. -

The best way to resolve this is to mark the emails as “Not Spam”, that way you can train the spam filter to better identify important emails in the future. Also if you use a mobile device or email client to access your mail over IMAP, please check the Spam filters in that application, to make sure it’s not marking important emails as spam.

Since the last update, mail is taking extremely long time to open up and half the time if there are graphics they don't even show up.... the opening of mail just drags on!!! what's the problem as it's not only irritating but very time consuming!!

AOL just disappears when sending emails
Three times today when trying to send an email to the draft folder with photos, AOL just disappears and closes out with no warning. Now every time I sign back on that email (now empty) is stuck with all of the other pop ups on sign on. I have some that have been stuck since last summer and Techs were never able to get rid of them so I will not waste more hours of my life calling them again. So now for every sign on, I have to close out about 6 blank emails along with the news screen…

Try clearing the Browser Footprints:
1. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu.
2. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings.No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.

Email is not updating
For the past few days my email is not current. I know there are new mails because they come through on my phone. But Desktop Gold on my computer is not updating. I tried the "refresh mail" but this does nothing. It only updates if I completely shut it down and resign in. HELP!

What is going on with the Tool Bar? How do you add or take away? Where are the icons?
The option to change the toolbar icons is not available yet, but you can add, delete and move icons inside the toolbar. To add a website to the toolbar, click on the Heart shaped icon on the top right corner of the webpage and select “Add to Toolbar” from the pop-up menu. To move or delete icons from the toolbar, simply right-click on the icon and select the desired option from the pop-up menu.

I am very confused about what phone numbers I should use. I have been using a VIP tel. number with my VIP number but it doesn’t work. What shall I do with my number? Do I keep it?
I have a number for tech support and billing.

Regarding the double spacing in emails, this might be a result of using a certain Font type or size. You can adjust the Font type or size in order to reduce the spacing.

MORE RE: Backup and Transfer PFC to a different computer
You recently sent me an update re: transferring PFC to another computer using export and import. The text of the message seems clear, however in the linked article, there is still reference to exporting/importing the PFC from a previous version of AOL Desktop.
Which is it?

The article provided in the response you received, contains 3 sections. The first one titled ‘Import and export mail and personal data to another computer’ explains how to use the Import and Export feature, that will allow you to create a back-up (Export) of your current personal data file, and how to Import it.
The second section refers to the ‘Import Wizard’ feature that allows you to import mail from an older version of the AOL Desktop installed on your computer.
The third section explains how to manually import a Personal Filling Cabinet file from an older version of the AOL Desktop.

HELP
Even after speaking with AOL tech support and explaining were not loading correctly nothing has been done. I was told by AOL tech support " this is how it is now" not it isn't, things are supposed to load properly. You still cannot get into any chat rooms...after reading one article my welcome screen just goes to white....so this is how it is? Really? Tech support lies just to get people off the phone. I wasted an hour today with your tech support only to be told ...this is how it is now as I sit here looking at something…
Try restarting the computer. After that log into the AOL Gold software and check if you have the latest version of the software (11.0.2066): click on Help > About AOL.

BRING BACK THE OLD AOL
If AOL comes back the way it was around 1998, all Facebook users will move to AOL. I do not understand why you cannot bring back the old AOL BUT with enhanced features and technologies. People are tired of being abused by Facebook. You can steal all users from Facebook simply devoting to the user experience and improving new features like you used to. This is what we need:
-First when you log in: WELCOME (We miss for the AOL welcome audio)
-Mail: "YOU GOT MAIL" audio
-Chatrooms: Like old chatrooms but improved. Allow sounds, GIFs, send photo, user profile…We appreciate your feedback and will send it over to the development team.
The custom greeting sounds are now available with the latest update for the AOL Desktop Gold. To customize your greeting sounds, follow these steps:
1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign on.
2. Click on the ‘Edit’ menu on the top left.
3. Select ‘General Settings’ from the drop-down menu.
4. Go to the ‘Personalization’ category on the left.
5. Select the ‘Sounds’ tab.*As an alternative you can go to the Keyword(CTRL+K): sounds.
To choose the sound categories, click on the ‘Options’ button, and after selecting your preferred greetings click on ‘Apply’. You can also preview the sounds before and after applying them, by clicking on the Play button next to the sound name.
If you do not have the custom greeting sounds, it means that you will have to upgrade your AOL Desktop Gold…
