Your Beta updates are not understandable
Your latest update includes "accessible from "Add a Fav" icon in toolbar carousel, little + sign, keyword add a favorite".
What on earth does this mean? Makes no sense. So many of your updates are not understandable and need to be clearer.
Hello there, this is a new feature which you can use to add shortcuts to your carousel, like the address book, calendar and many more. To access this feature, click on the + button on the top right corner of the carousel (below the double arrows), or go to the keyword (CTRL+K): Add a Favorite. At the moment this feature is only available on the AOL Desktop Gold Beta, and in case you experience issues loading the content in the Add a Favorite window, please note that our engineers are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

Email Count Wrong.
This is not an idea, I am reporting an issue. You are reporting that there are 57 new emails in my inbox. There is approx 20 emails in my inbox. Your system, is mis-reporting how emails I have.
Try refreshing the mailbox. Click on the Mail option on the top of the desktop screen and select Refresh Mailbox from the drop-down menu.

Why the **** does AOL NOT REFRESH after every email is read or address changed? The screen remains completely blanked over!

ARCHIVE folder placed in e-mail by AOL
On Aug 13, 2018 a folder appeared in my email under "Saved on aol" called "Archive" I did not place it there.
After the archive folder appeared, I deleted some other folders with their continence. The folders were removed at the time, however, after and hour or two, the folder(s) would reappear with their continence. I have notified AOL tech services and they have tried several different solutions. To date none have worked. Please refer to Case # 06945750. I want to be able to delete and remove emails and folders. If not the email service I am paying for…Hello there, the issue you are experiencing is caused in most cases by an email client, like Outlook, Mac Mail, Windows Mail. The Archive folder is created automatically by the email client. Also if you created mail folders in the email client, and later deleted them from the AOL Mail site, or AOL Desktop Gold, the email client will synchronize the folder list the next time you open it, and cause the folders to re-appear. In this case, please delete the mail folders from your email client.

Play a sound such as a ding when new mail is received
To enable new mail notification sound go to:
Edit→ General Settings → click on Sounds tab → check the box next to Play sound when new mail is received.

Dislike new format started 8/16/2018. Please change back. Will not use this format. Only 3 items under each category. NO Sequim, Wa. weather pops up. If you cannot give me the old format I will stop my AOL Gold account.

Regarding the issue that you are experiencing, we’ve recovered as many emails as possible. These should be present in your “Recovered Mail” and “Recovered Sent Mail” folders, which appear at the very bottom of your folders list. We have verified the presence of these folders for your mailbox.
Note: The best way to access and review these folders will be through AOL Mail on the web. You can find this site at https://mail.aol.com/
In case the emails that you are looking for, are not in the Recovered Mail…

Any post with GOP or Republican in the sender or subject line is being sent to the Spam folder. This kind of censorship of political matters should cease immediately. If you do not like certain political persons or parties, let us all know and we can do business elsewhere.
Emails will be tagged as a spam depending on the behavior it was sent or on the spam controls of the recipient. If there are links, images or phrases that AOL Mail service deemed as a spam based on the complaints of other members, it will automatically go to spam folder. If the mail was sent as a mass mail, it will automatically go to spam folder as well.
By marking messages as Spam or Not Spam you are customizing your personal Spam filter to learn what is spam and what is not.
AOL spam controls filter email for possible spam, even before the mail reaches your Inbox or Spam Folder.Also, please make sure that these senders are added to your address book.

Issues caused by latest update 11.0.1916
UPDATE ISSUES after Revision 11.0.1916 was updated on 8-9-18. My AOL desktop button would not open AOL this morning, so I spent almost three hours on phone with Tech who re-installed Gold at least 8 times trying to get it working as it did yesterday (in 11.0.1912 toolbar icons and sign at least worked). This was after restoring my computer and doing Windows updates again to no avail. It still takes a good six clicks to have AOL even open from my desktop icon. I have never been so frustrated in all my life. Ever since I have had to go onto Gold, I have had nothing but aggravation.
Ever since I have had to change to Gold I have had nothing but aggravation. It is the most frustrating thing I have ever been through. Each time I send my groups their emails, the addresses are deleted from the groups and I have to call a tech to recover the lost contacts. I have already spoken to 38 reps about this. Why should I have to go through this. I have also spent over 100 hours dealing with this situation. This never happened in the 20 years I was on AOL until Gold came along and this started happening…
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. In most cases this issue appears when exceeding the maximum limit of contacts per distribution list. To make sure the group does not exceed the maximum limit of 300 contacts, please go to mail.aol.com and sign in, then click on Contacts on the left side and look for the group in question in the list of contacts. The number of Contacts in the group is displayed next to the group name (in the list of contacts).
If the group reached the maximum limit, please create an additional address book group (you can setup 100 groups), where you can add up to 300 more contacts.

Dump the Favorites "upgrade"
Prior to AOL Gold the Favorites button was easy to use. Since the "upgrade" trying to locate a favorite results in frustration. It is extremely hard to locate what one is looking for as once a sub-folder is opened it stays open until manually closed - and, opening a sub-folder takes you back to the top of the list and you have to search once again for where it is in the list. Dump this "upgrade" and go reinstall the code for the old Favorites.

In order to save an image from a web-page, first right-click on it, then select “Save image as”, choose the location where you want to save the image and click Save at the bottom.

Please power cycle (reboot) your modem/router, by following these steps:
Switch off and unplug the power from your modem/router.
Leave both unplugged for 30 seconds.

AOL must not like Outlook. Before you could copy a outlook file and post it the body of the email. Now AOL shuts down.
I use Outlook as my Contact and Calendar. When copying an Outlook contact and trying to paste to the body of the email to send out, AOL rudely shuts down. been going on since Gold was established. Before Gold it worked fine. Have complained about this in the past, but no response and consideration.

If a previous feature - from 9.8 - is not working - and may never work - then why not block the menu item with "currently under construction" or some other message and not send the user through hoops that ultimately do not work - just admit the fact that no one has tested this "gold" version.

You can search mail by the sender’s email address, by following these steps:
1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign in.
2. Click on Read to open your Mailbox.
3. Select the Search Mail tab on the top of the Mailbox window.
4. Click on the drop-down next to the Search field, and select “Email Address Only”.
5. Type the email address in the “for” field and click Search. -
Why can’t we access old email on our PCs instead of having to log into AOL Gold?
I spent over two hours with your techs today trying to make sure that I could download my archived AOL emails to my PC. I have 20 years worth! Only after the full two hours did they finally admit that there was no way to download them on to your PC. You can only access them from inside the desktop software. AOL has effectively taken ******* of thousands of my emails. They’re doing this to everyone. In an age where we’re all the more concerned with our personal privacy, how can AOL justify this? You can now save a copy of your emails as a PDF or Text file on your computer, which can be accessed outside of the AOL Desktop Gold.
To do this, open an email from your mailbox, then click on File on the top left and select Save from the drop-down menu. You can type a name for the file in the “File Name” box, select the location where you want to save it, and finally click on Save in the bottom right.
Please note that you can save one email at a time.
