The Stationery feature is now available in the AOL Desktop Gold.

To customize your email with a stationery, follow these four easy steps:

1. Sign in to AOL Desktop Gold.
2. Click ‘Write’ in the upper left.
3. At the top, click the Extras menu (below the subject line) and select Stationery.
4. Browse or search through the categories on the right and choose one you’d like.

To remove your stationery background, click the Extras menu | select Remove Background.

In case you do not see the Stationery option, you will need to update the AOL Desktop Gold to the latest revision. To do that, click on the Help menu on the top, select ‘Check for Updates’, and after 10-15 minutes close and re-open the software.

    Please give us stationary extras to add to our e mails - they are there on your free aol e mail page - we pay for desktop and would enjoy the extras to add to our e mails.

    When do we get to control how our emails look as far as being able to put backgrounds in? I'd also like to be able to have the old options available in the Window tab at the top of the task bar, to be able to see what's open at the bottom of the screen is very helpful.
    Backgrounds are really important for so many of us, getting things back to the way we're used to is coming along, but there is still a long way to go before you have a million happy customer instead of a million unhappy ones.

    1.Scrap gold and bring back 9.8.2! It is missing too many features. 2.Also, ads are ridiculous, every thing you look at you see on the right for days!
    3.Why can't we color the letters and words in an email anymore. 4.let the history of sites visited update again
    5.Shoot the person who did this to a great browser

    Has there been any progress made since my earlier comments last month about restoring the missing features in the "writing email" program on AOLBeta Gold that existed in AOL9.8.2. and earlier programs?There is no art mail section, holiday pictures,background scenes,ect. in this new AOL version. A forced update should always contain the features that were most liked by AOL users, something that was consistently done in the past!

    The special features on AOL 9.8.2 in the "writing email" section have been eliminated on AOL Gold Beta. There are no longer graphics, icons or holiday pictures that can be sent with email. It has become so bland and generic. If we are forced to update to a Beta program, the best features of the previous program should be kept as was done with everyAOL update in the past. A new program should be better, not worse! Don't remove features that were liked by AOL users

    In the old desktop 9.8 you could add tons of available background art. This distinguished aol mail form run of the mill junk I got from others. It was unique, and getting rid of it is going backwards.

    I would really like to see backgrounds in our mail again.

    On 9.8, there was a terrific toolbar option for "artwork", where animated icons were available, as well as many other art options--BRING THOSE BACK! They were awesome!

    I do not like the new AOL GOLD write page... add more fonts and backgrounds... its cold and boring!

    Please bring back the birthday and holiday (e-mail inserts) etc... I really miss them. I was told it was going to be brought back.... Also, the choice for e-mail background, etc... What a shame!

    Give back choices of different color inks within one message. Adds emphasis. Gold is more like a children's Twitter. No choices at all. That is not what email is meant to be! There is no grace here!

    PLEASE INSTALL THE ENTIRE FORMER WRITE MAIL THAT YOU HAD ON THE PREVIOUS AOL. IT WAS MUCH EASIER TO INSERT PHOTOGRAPHS AS WELL. YOU HAVE LEFT OUT ONE OF AOL'S MOST IMPORTANT FEATURES.

    How do I set a solid background color in my outgoing emails? I typically used a grey background with Black lettering as a default.

    Also, how do I set a picture in my outgoing emails? I've used the US Navy as a watermark.

    GO BACK TO YOUR PREVIOUS VERSION OF LETTER WRITING WITH ALL THE WONDERFUL ARTWORK AND EASE OF INSERTING PHOTOGRAPHS. IF YOUR CHARGING IT SHOULD BE BETTER, NOT WORSE!

    I do not like the Gold. So much wrong with it where do I start? I do NOT want emails popping up on the right bottom of the screen when I'm doing other things. They completely stop me from what I'm doing. I am capable of checking my email myself. I want my favorites back. This is a huge pain. No background pictures for stationary. Can't delete "recently deleted" all at one time. So much more I can't even remember it all. Why did you have to change something that worked just fine.

    I sent most birthday greetings with the Postcard feature. I miss this feature the most. I also miss the ability to use an Emoticon. Bring this back as fast as you can! They appear to be "grayed: out and waiting to be activated. Do it!

    Our emails look terrible with no backgrounds and the huge text and images.
