Please return to the old date format of month/day/year. Thanks.
The option to change the Date format in your mailbox is now available.
Here are the steps to change the Date format:
1. Open AOL Desktop Gold and sign in.
2. Click on the ‘Settings’ icon on the toolbar.
3. Go to the ‘Mail’ category on the left.
4. Next to ‘Date Style’ select one of the options below.
Date Only (Month/Day/Year)
Show time for mail received today
5. Changes are saved automatically, so you can close the Settings window.
In case you do not see the ‘Date Style’ option, you will need to update the AOL Desktop Gold to the latest revision. To do that, click on the Help menu on the top, select ‘Check for Updates’, and after 10-15 minutes close and re-open the software.

terrible way to display dates, can hardly wrap my head around what I am seeing. This might be the deal breaker :(

All of a sudden, email dates are displaying as Time (for today's email), Yesterday (for yesterdays) and then Month Day Day of week (APR 10 Mon) instead of Month/Day/Year! This is HORRIBLE and needs to go back to the old way!

I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE CHANGE IN EMAIL LISTINGS. EACH EMAIL HAS A TIME INSTEAD OF THE DATE LIKE ALWAYS IN THE PAST. THIS IS A PRIORITY FOR AOL? THIS TAKES PRIORITY STATUS OVER FIXING OTHER MAJOR ISSUES? WHY IS THIS? HOW ABOUT FIXING THE SPAM ISSUE? HOW ABOUT GIVING US BACK CHOICES FOR BACKGROUNDS AND FONTS? BUT INSTEAD YOU FOCUS ON PUTTING TIME RECEIVED IN OUR MAIL BOXES? WTF AOL? WHEN DO YOU EVER LISTEN TO YOUR SUBSCRIBERS?

Please do not force this new email marking on those who do not want it. Make it optional. You are not making our use easier.
AOL Gold has caused havoc on many issues. One day all my emails totally disappeared I had to call tech support and it took them a long time to locate the files and restore them GOLD is NOT an
improvement I may seriously consider a change to gmail. -

Put the date display in the mail screen back the way it was! I don't want to see time, I don't want to see "yesterday", I don't want to see "Mar 29 Friday", I just want to see "4/3"! Quit messing with thing!

Boo hiss! I hate this new email dating system, go back to month/day/year. This was totally unnecessary when so many other email issues continue to go unfixed.

When sorted, the TIME causes emails to be ordered by DATE & TIME... so showing time with no date is confusing and unneeded.. Also "yesterday" confuses even more... & don't need Day of Week!!
JUST DATE ONLY PLEASE
Don't fix what's not broken

I agree 100%. Go back to the old format of date we received the emails, not the time!!

Elaine commented
time appears instead of date, i would rather have the date to appear when i receive an email

I didn't likehow the mail settings for the date that is hown in the email; I would prefer to use the actual date and the time the email has been received rather than showing "Yesterday" make it real time when it comes to date
-
BOB KRAMPETZ commented
... instead I'm seeing times on currrent emasil and the word 'yesterday' on those from yesterday!! ... I prefer seeing the date on all..

Go back to email inbox just registering date/month/year, instead of this dreadfully confusing change:
In a message dated 4/2/2019 6:23:05 AM Pacific Standard Time, tester.desktop11@aol.com writes:This has changed with this newly released update of the client. It will only show the time for mail today. If the mail is from a previous day with will show things like "Yesterday" for yesterday, and the Month, day, and Day for up to a week old mail, then Month and day for mail from this year.
AOL GOLD ONLY MAKES CHANGES THAT MAKE THINGS LESS USER FRIENDLY AND MORE DIFFICULT & CONFUSING. DATE/MONTH/YEAR WERE PERFECT. YOU GET THE TIME WHEN YOU OPEN THE EMAIL. GO BACK TO THE OLD SYSTEM!
