The same thing happened to me only to find out that my hard drive was crashing. I now have a new computer and never see that "not responding" anymore.

Difficulty signing in to aol desktop gold. Have to keep restarting and eventually it connects. Also once signed in and reviewing new mail as I am deleting emails it clears all new emails and shows only emails from day before. Has happened 3 days in a row, I then need to restart aol and start again. Very frustrating.

When AOL Desktop Gold goes in to a 'not responding' state, that's usually not the AOL application causing the hang. There is likely something "up" with your Windows install that is causing a deadlock situation. I would suggest backing up your important items and reinstalling Windows or running System Restore to go back to a known-good state. I've never seen AOL straight-up hang unless there was a larger underlying problem.

Not only that, I had to restart computer because AOL was slowing everything down. Noew it erased 2 1/2 months of recent emails

It might be that you need to clean up your computer. If mine does things like that I go into cleaning mode and that fixes it.

Unfortunately, my boss has used AOL since she was a little girl. Now that she's grown and owns a business, she likes using AOL for our business, but I find it useless as I'm unable to retrieve emails threads when talking with clients.

Why are we seeing ads when we're paying for a service? I can understand if this was free, but come on. All this does is slow it down even more. -
