  1. AOL Desktop Gold (Not Responding)

    AOL Desktop Gold is not responding on my computer. The issue is intermittent. I can navigate for a while and then all of the sudden it will not respond. Contacted AOL Tech Support. We run System Mechanic, still no good. Checked task manager to checked CPU usage. AOL Desktop Gold is the most highest running program on my PC. Please check this problem. Thank you.

    Please send us a crash report in order for our engineers to look into this issue. To do that, please follow these steps:

    1. Open AOL Desktop Gold.
    2. Click on Help on the top right, and select Report a Bug from the drop-down menu.
    3. Type a short description of the problem, and click Send.

  2. why when it says "show caption" can't I see the caption? to much "junk" in the way

    when there is "show caption" , I am unable to see the caption because of the JUNK that is there. I want to read the caption not junk information that is totally useless.

    Please try to Clear the Footprints:

    Here’s how:

    a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu.

    Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.
  3. On the chatting site my comments are not displayed and nobody is able to see it. I would like to know if I am censored.

    When I comment on the article conversation site, my comments are displayed on my computer, but nobody else can see it. I would like to know if I am being censored.

    By default the top voted comments will be shown first. To change the comment listing, click on the ‘Sort by’ drop-down arrow at the top of the Conversation section, and select ‘Newest’.

  4. Permanently delete all trashed emails all at one time

    When I trash my emails, I would like to permanently delete them all at one time and not one at a time. I trashed them for a reason and having to delete them one at a time only aggravates my carpal tunnel syndrome. Thank you.

    Select one email from the list, and press CTRL+A to highlight all of them
    or choose ‘Select All’ from the Edit menu then press Permanently Delete.

  5. Complaining once again to the Government against AOL.

    Happened twice today when I make a post to my FB page from a newsfeed article....AOL FREEZES AND SHUTS DOWN MY FB! Looks like all of my complaints of this same problem for 1 year or more is being ignored and NOT fixed. I guess I have to file another complaint with the US Government again!

  7. aol doesn,t work it freezes over and over and your hep cannot fix it

    New AOL desktop gold freezes everytime I use it , been happening this issue for almost 6 months now . My computer performance is good, it only freezes once ADG is open. already tried to ask assistance and did all the troubleshooting that needs to be done , but still not working properly, it freezes all the time .

  8. Open search result in new tab

    New popup for search result (lower right of search window) is neither useful nor convenient. Too small to read well and a nuisance to resize. Please open search result in a new tab. If you simply MUST retain the unwanted popup please give user an option in Settings to suppress popup and open selected result in a new tab.

    You can add a category in AOL Desktop Gold, by following these steps:
    1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign on.
    2. Click on the Mail button on the toolbar, and select Address Book.
    3. Click on a contact you want to add to a category, then select the Edit option.
    4. Click on the ‘Auto-Added’ button on the top right corner of the Address Card window, and select ‘Add New’ from the drop-down menu.
    5. Type the name of the new category, and click ‘Add’.
    6. Click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the Address Card window.
    In order to delete a category, you will need to remove all the contacts from it, by editing the contact and adding it to another category (you can add regular contacts to the ‘General’ category).
    Please note, that the default category’s cannot be deleted (e.g. Auto-Added, Co-Workers, Family, Friends, Uncategorized, General).

  11. Give us the option to save browsing HISTORY like Chrome, Firefox, etc.

    Would be great if AOL Gold preserved our history of sites visited like Chrome, Firefox, etc. I have my browser set to 'remember the last browsing session.' Recently had a crash and some of my open web pages could not be retrieved. Because there is no history of previous sites I have visited that extends very far back, I cannot locate several important web pages I had open.

  13. AGAIN I HAVE TO ASK WHEN AOL WILL FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH.....

    IF SPAM IS IN THE BAR IT WILL BE RELEGATED SOMEWHERE ELSE AND NOTHING WILL GET DONE, IT PROBABLY WON'T GET DONE ANYWAY. I HAVE REPEATEDLY REPORTED THAT EMAIL IS BEING DELIVERED TO MY SPAM FOLDER WHEN ITS NOT SPAM AND HAS BEEN REPORTED REPEATEDLY AS NOT BEING SPAM. SO WHEN DO THE BUGS GET FIXED WITH AOL? NEVER? THAT WOULD PROBABLY BE THE CORRECT ANSWER. FOR 20 YEARS I'VE BEEN GETTING EMAIL FROM A FRIEND, HIS EMAIL ADDY HAS NEVER CHANGED ONCE, YET HIS EMAIL GOES TO MY SPAM FOLDER EVERY SINGLE TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. NOW ANOTHER PERSON…

    By marking messages as Not Spam you are customizing your personal Spam filter to learn what is spam and what is not.
    Emails will be tagged as spam depending on the behavior it was sent or on the spam controls of the recipient. If there are links, images or phrases that AOL Mail service deemed as spam based on the complaints of other members, it will automatically go to the spam folder. If the mail was sent as a mass mail, it will automatically go to the spam folder as well.
    Also, please make sure this email address is added to your Contacts list.

  15. Stop making every question go to the question and answer

    Have AOL revert back to saving an email if is still open. Just because it is sitting idle does not mean that someone is not working on working on it.

    For example, I have been with AOL since 1990s and I have seen upgrades where, if a machine goes to sleep, the application has saved the data responded at periodic times so at least not all of the reply is lost. This is not the case as I have completed my reply and went to scan the attachments into a black and white version so that I could send it…

    You can now change the date format, by following the steps below:

    1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign on.
    2. Click on the Settings icon on the toolbar.
    3. Select the Mail category from the left-hand side.
    4. From the ‘Date Style’ section, select Date Only (old format).

  18. anti spoofing

    We receive many emails a day from a spoofed address. The unsubscribe does not work nor do the reply to addresses work. There are anti spoofing mechanisms that AOL can use to stop these emails including DKIM and SPF. Test show that AOL does not use these - they should.

    As you might have noticed we changed the login process in AOL Mail, to a more secure 2 step login, which helps prevent your AOL account from being compromised or hacked.
