AOL Search box upon log on is a pain. Can it be permanently deleted?
To disable the Search Window go to Edit > Startup Settings > Startup Tab > uncheck the Search Window box.
The changes are saved automatically.

desktop page is now wide and short. Why???? Its terrible!!! We have hated Desktop Gold!!!
Go back to pre Desktop Gold. Today our AOL window is very wide and very short! There is no looking at a full page. We have to scroll down to see the rest of the page. It's stupid!!!! Don't like it at all!!! YOUR progress has been anything but!

multiple aol desktop golds
How many computers can have aol desktop gold installed at one time? In other words, can I have more then two aol desktop gold softwares installed on multiple computers? Can I have three or five?
With most software out there, you can have from only one to up to three or five, but this info is nowhere to be found, even on google. AOL chat doesn't know which is weird.
There is no limit on the number of computers you can download and install the AOL Desktop on.

I kept losing sub-catogories in my address book
My address Book has sub-catogories and I keep losing a sub cat and it also wipes it out in the address book. Tech says it can not be recovered after 7 days. WHY?
We have reset your mailbox to refresh the servers associated with your account. Please log out and log back in for the changes to take effect, then check the Address Book.
If the problem persists, please call 1-888-265-3733 to have one of our Technical Support Agents investigate this further.

'Incoming saved mail' I keep losing folders that I have set up to store some important emails and then I'm told tech can't recover after 7 d
'incoming saved mail' folders are lost and can not be recovered after 7 days so tech told me. WHY? Why are they lost in the first place?
Mail folders can disappear from the personal filing cabinet when uninstalling and reinstalling the AOL Desktop Gold. To make sure you will not lose any folders or emails when uninstalling and reinstalling the software, you can create a back-up of the personal filing cabinet using the Export feature, and after the software is reinstalled you can restore the back-up using the Import option.
To use these features:
1. Click the Settings icon on the toolbar.
2. Click the My Data tab.
3. Click Export or Import.
4. Select your file (when Importing).
5. If exporting, create a password. You’ll be asked for this password when importing the info on another computer. If importing, enter the password you previously created.
6. Once your personal data is imported, you’ll have access to it on AOL Desktop Gold. -
reactivate email
I had my email tied to an older account that I need access to but I am unable to access it without verifying my account but I cant do that as my email account has been deactivated. I understand needing to save server space but please give people the option to reactivate their email.
If you haven’t accessed this account in the last 90 days, it might have been deleted for inactivity and cannot be reactivated. PROBLEM IS AT YOUR END. I ASKED YOU NOT TO TELL ME TO CALL A TECH AND YOU DID JUST THAT AND CLOSED MY POSTING. USELESS!
I click on New Mail and instead of that mailbox opening the mailbox with deleted mail opens. Can anyone here fix anything? This has been going on for weeks now. Yes, I clear my browser. Many times a day.So many different complaints over the last 7 months and nothing has been fixed.Please do not tell me to call a tech. The problem is at your end.

What happened to being able to send BCC bulk emails to a list of emails for my group that meets each week. We have always been able to send to our entire email list of group attendees. But today I am trying to do this for my co-leader, and received an undeliverable mail notice from the postmaster...though I did receive a sent email notice from AOL showing that the email with all BCC in bulk were sent! Then after sending and receiving the sent mail notice, I received two minutes later the Undeliverable mail email from postmaster@pdes-usa.com saying:

Regarding the issue you are experiencing, this might not be related to the fact that you have sent a bulk email. The bounce-back error you provided us, mentions a problem with the @pdes-usa.com recipient’s mailbox (the type of problem that their email provider will have to resolve).
When you receive an email with a bounce-back error message, it means that AOL was not able to deliver your email, or that the recipient domain rejected your message.
If you continue to receive a bounce-back error after sending mail, please call us at 1-888-265-3733, and one of our technicians can analyze the error and provide you information about why the message could not be delivered.

AOL -- can you give us an approximate date when Gold will be fixed?
It would be helpful to know when AOL will be as good as 9.8.2. We have been going through this since last September? It seems that it hasn't improved by much at all. Or give us the option of going back to 9.8.2, which had a minimum of problems. This is ridiculous. Are you even listening? But what you will probably do is combine my request with other comments and close comments. Prove you are listening and do something!
We take every feedback seriously and share it with the concerned team. We are updating AOL Desktop Gold every 2 weeks, please continue to send us feedback on what features you would like to see implemented.
Currently we don’t have an estimated time frame, but we hope the majority of the features our members are asking for will be implemented soon.

Try to sign in to my account at https://my.screenname.aol.com/ and keep getting this Http/1.1 Service Unavailable .
The error message you are seeing is caused by an outdated bookmark. Please go to mail.aol.com and sign in, then make a new bookmark for AOL Mail.

problems with saving emails on aol - There should be a search bar to put in the file & save on my PC is unclear
Problems with saving emails on AOL:
1. There should be a search bar to allow to go immediately with out having to scroll when very often the email goes into some wrong folder as I am scrolling & if I did not resend to myself before trying to save it to make sure I still have it if it does go into the wrong folder, it is lost.
2. Create a new folder should be at the top not the bottom
3.The option to "Save on my PC" is apparently not what you think it is as explained to me…Thank you for sharing your feedback, we will make sure this gets to the appropriate team for review. There are two ways to store your emails in folders. You can either “Save on AOL” and there email folders can be accessed from other computers and devices, or your can use “Save on My PC” and have the mail folders stored locally in the AOL Desktop personal filling cabinet (email folders can be accessed only from the computer where the emails were saved). Please power cycle (reboot) your modem/router, by following these steps:
*Switch off and unplug the power from your modem/router.
*Leave both unplugged for 30 seconds.
*Plug the power back into the modem/router and verify that you are again connected to the Internet.If the problem persists, please contact your Internet Service Provider, to make sure the AOL domains, including the AOL Desktop software, are not being blocked on your network.

Why would it take a full 7 .......(((COUNT THEM!)))....... a full 7 minutes to boot up AOL!! Evidently you people don't use your own browser or it would miraculously work PROPERLY!!!!!!!
Please send us a crash report in order for our engineers to look into this issue. To do that, please follow these steps:
1. Open AOL Desktop Gold.
2. Click on Help on the top right, and select Report a Bug from the drop-down menu.
3. Type a short description of the problem, and click Send. -
5/16/18: Once again, as I reported before, I can not sign off.
Have to use Task Manager to sign off. Does anyone care about all the problems we are having? Why are they not being fixed after all this time?
I don't what your beta fixes are for because not even one of them have helped any of my problems. Don't tell me to clean my browser or call tech. The problem is on your end.

Emails
why is deleting email such a big deal? First you delete the email...then you have to "permentaly delete" Thats twice.....but......if you also save read and saved mail in PC if you don't go there and delete AGAIN.....you could end up with a zillion emails coming and sent......When an email is deleted, that should be enough....can you explain why so many times??
The Trash folder will not keep emails older than seven days. If you accidentally deleted an email you can recover it from the Trash folder, if it’s been less than seven days since you deleted the message. Emails older than seven days will be automatically deleted from the Trash folder.

Spam box shows nonexistant e-mail
My SPAM folder always shows 4 more pieces of SPAM than are actually in the folder. For example, when reading my e-mail the link at the bottom shows 14 pieces of SPAM. Open the folder, you see just 10 pieces of SPAM. The link shows 4 pieces of SPAM but open the folder and there are 0 pieces of SPAM. What's up with that? How do I fix it?
Try refreshing the mailbox. Click on the Mail option on the top of the desktop screen and select Refresh Mailbox from the drop-down menu.

Resolution options
I cannot change the magnification! I need to decrease the view to be able to see ALL of the game I'm trying to play. I used to be able to hold the ctrl button down and use the mouse wheel to fit more in, but now it's USELESS! The aol Tech THAT I PAY FOR could only change the resolution on my WHOLE COMPUTER! This left me with tiny icons and print EVERYWHERE ELSE! When I was not satisfied, he closed chat and left me stranded with the awful "new" resolution. It took me a while to change it all…
To zoom in on a page you can use the keyboard combinations of “Ctrl” and "+ ". Also, you can click on Edit on the top left corner of the screen and select Zoom from the drop-down menu.
