The personal filing cabinet is stored in a local database folder, which can be opened by accessing the path below in the Windows Run box (press the Windows key + R): LOCALAPPDATA\AOLDesktopData\db"My computer answers:

AOL Gold Desktop doesn't recognize my Adobe Flash and PDF programs
Ever since I downloaded and have used the new AOL Gold Desktop, the program does not recognize that I already have Adobe Flash on my computer, no need to download it again for AOL's use. I keep it updated but not through AOL Gold Desktop. It works fine except for the constant "Download Adobe Flash" message. Same is true for PDF files, When I download a PDF file, I cannot read it from AOL Gold Desktop. I have to sign off, go searching for the PDF file, then read it separately. Bug in New Spam Settings
I mistakenly added a word to the list of specific words and phrases (then realized it was a bad idea, as now hundreds of emails are being sent to the Spam Folder). When I try to remove it, I get an error: "We seem to have trouble sending this request. Please try again in 5 minutes. Code: Forbidden." No matter how many times I've tried, the "spam" word I want to delete won't go away! Please fix this!! I can provide a screenshot if you need it.

web pages, it goes back the AOL search Results every time!!

I continue to have issues sending emails with embedded graphics - I get the email all ready to send and press SEND and it doesnt send. The word SEND continues to be in BOLD and not grayed out. Rapid flashing AOL ads and law suits
I've got three emails open and my desktop email window. There are four, rapidly flashing ads driving me nuts and making me sick to my stomach, so that I can't work. Maybe you, AOL, don't care about that, but are you aware that, for someone with epilepsy, that type of rapid, flashing movement can cause a seizure? And perhaps a law suit? Email is not updating
For the past few days my email is not current. I know there are new mails because they come through on my phone. But Desktop Gold on my computer is not updating. I tried the "refresh mail" but this does nothing. It only updates if I completely shut it down and resign in. HELP!

i cannot get into stories-tells me unauthorized. i pay for this aol gold monthly. fix the problem.
aol gold now gives me "UNAUTHORIZED" when i try to read a story. either this gets fixed or i go with another carrier. called tech support and they could not fix it. i am disgusted!!!!!

If a person can't sign-on because he forgot his password, how can you expect him to log-on to let you know there's a problem?
Why not try being user friendly? Phoning a landline would work in my case. But sending am e-mail to an account that you can't log-on to seems like a waste of everyone's time.

Write mail area is the wrong size! Doesn't match "open" box size!
The new "write mail" area fir ab email composed is the wrong size! After composing a professional letter in the new area allowed, the person who opens the email finds large gaps between words in the email's sentences, because the box they open mail in doesn't match the size of the box it was written in! This causes the mail to auto-adjust leaving large gaps between words. This wastes my time trying to figure out how to size an email that won't have gaps and look unprofessional when it is opened. It should be possible to read mail saved on one's PC without having to sign on to AOL
AOL is engaging in deception by telling users they can save mail on their PC. No, that is not true. If it was, users would be able to read it without signing on, would be able to back it up, and would be able to transfer it to another computer. This appears to be a ploy to force users to continue to pay for the desktop software indefinitely if they want to be able to read "saved" mail. Recently when I delete the messages in my SPAM Folder, they reappear in my RECENTLY DELETED MAIL Folder, so I have to delete them a second time. When I compose an e-mail, I cannot indent the first line of paragaphs using the Tab key. When I try to indent, the cursor disappears!
Allow the tab key to indent at the start of a paragraph
Please check if you have the option enabled. Click on Mail option > Mail Settings > select the General tab > check the option “Use tab key to indent when writing an email”
Changes are saved automatically.

I tried to send (multiple times) messages with bcc typing the group name and when I try to send it comes up as an error. WHY?
Correct problem
This issue is most likely caused by the fact that the email contained too many recipients. AOL does not disclose the number of recipients or emails that can be sent at one time, but we recommend sending the email to a smaller group of recipients. You can split larger groups into multiple emails.

make it consistent to connect
aol gold is a genuine pain **********. it routinely won't connect even now that i have reinstalled it into my new HP computer 5th generation with Spectrum 5G internet service. Sometimes it will connect the next day-- who knows why. it is very interrupting to my business. Maybe this is a good time to dump aol service.

I find that the new AOL Desktop Gold version is absolutely terrible. There are so many bugs – that I’m not sure if AOL did any kind of beta testing before releasing this garbage.

My IT tech says AOL was hacked, because he is getting calls from his clients who use AOL. The same thing is happening to their address books. Please advise.
