Since updating to the latest version, I do NOT like having to grant you access to make changes to my computer every time I log on and off!!!
This feature was not in the previous version of AOL. Take it out of the latest version.
Right-Click on the AOL Desktop Gold shortcut, and select Properties, and from the Compatibility tab uncheck “Run this program as an administrator”.

make it consistent to connect
aol gold is a genuine pain **********. it routinely won't connect even now that i have reinstalled it into my new HP computer 5th generation with Spectrum 5G internet service. Sometimes it will connect the next day-- who knows why. it is very interrupting to my business. Maybe this is a good time to dump aol service.

Why did AOL Gold change my settings on my laptop?
When I download AOL Gold it changed my file type associations for .htm and .html to AOL Gold. I never authorized this. What other covert changes did you also do to my computer? I absolutely do not trust AOL at all. If AOL was trustworthy, they would have a delivered a quality product first time.

Rapid flashing AOL ads and law suits
I've got three emails open and my desktop email window. There are four, rapidly flashing ads driving me nuts and making me sick to my stomach, so that I can't work. Maybe you, AOL, don't care about that, but are you aware that, for someone with epilepsy, that type of rapid, flashing movement can cause a seizure? And perhaps a law suit? Adg security feature is annoying
I am unable to open different links from some emails because those are recognized to be fishy by Aol Dektop Gold, if I try to go on the web mail and open those links, even thought they a recognized by Malware bytes as being suspicious I can at least open them. since I use adg mostly, it is a very annoying feature, so please allow me to choose if I want to go to a website or not

I have been on hold for 4 hours over a two day period, I can't open my mail and in the process it locks up my computer. WTF
Get rid of desk top Gold, we pay for a system that doesn't work and there is no one in tech support that has a clue how to fix anything. I have to go on Goggle to get to AOL Mail. Can someone PLEASE get to me. If this continues I going to cancel.

Just recently
Recently when I delete the messages in my SPAM Folder, they reappear in my RECENTLY DELETED MAIL Folder, so I have to delete them a second time. Please figure out why this is happening because it is annoying. I explained this to AOL Tech Support who took control of my computer but it continues to happen. Thank you. .

Write mail area is the wrong size! Doesn't match "open" box size!
The new "write mail" area fir ab email composed is the wrong size! After composing a professional letter in the new area allowed, the person who opens the email finds large gaps between words in the email's sentences, because the box they open mail in doesn't match the size of the box it was written in! This causes the mail to auto-adjust leaving large gaps between words. This wastes my time trying to figure out how to size an email that won't have gaps and look unprofessional when it is opened. I have been an AOL member for over 20 years, and have used your program as my primary email program. Recently, AOL has discontinued the 9.8 desktop version and substituted the new and improved AOL Desktop Gold, for $5 per month.
I find that the new AOL Desktop Gold version is absolutely terrible. There are so many bugs – that I’m not sure if AOL did any kind of beta testing before releasing this garbage.

News content is no longer news
I'm a 20 year aol customer. I use to get the majority of my news from the aol home page. No longer though. The first 2 or 3 items are as far as I go, because the remaining 75 or so items are a waste of my time, and I would think many others as well. Filled with topics generally found in People magazine. Not news. Maybe separate hard news into a dedicated category. I'd be glad to try again.

It seems that forever now, the "email-us" link STILL never is operating
It seems that STILL, forever, the "email-us" link NEVER works, is operational... ALSO, on the software drop-down, "check for updates" still never works...ALSO, the " computer protection plan, which is supposed to have a $750 per year free maintenance, repair, replace benefit(s), is NO longer free...They nowadays CHARGE a $75 fee to replace, repair computers, monitors and such... When an email won't open for 2 or 3 minutes its a problem for me. When it won't open because the ******* ads aren't loaded first on the margin of the email thats really a problem for me. Its happening more and more. My computer freezes up because the ads aren't loaded, I can't do anything but hard crash my computer or use control alt delete and restart the whole **** machine. To resolve the slowness and performance issues, please try the troubleshooting solutions below:
1. Clear the Footprints in the new AOL Desktop. Here’s how you clear the Footprints: a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu. b. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.
2. Restart the computer. This helps clear the internal memory (RAM), which often resolves many issues.
3. Enable only the essential startup programs. Multiple programs may have been set to start automatically when a computer is turned on. These programs may cause the computer to slow down, and affect other running applications.
