  1. AOL Starts From Scratch Each Day

    Since AOL Gold installed an update on 12/15/20, AOL is so much harder to use. All the info I input in a day is gone after I turn off my computer at night. The next day my Favorites from the Toolbar are gone, my Favorite Places list is gone (many items on it I've saved for years), and I have to log in with ID and Password each time despite indicating I want them both saved and automatically inserted.     all tech support wants to blame problems with gold on users computers - standard scripted solutions , reload gold , restart , clear cache , clear cookies , reset location , + etc. - NONE work to cure problems that are built into gold by AOL by amateur + incompetent programmers - AOL does not listen or do anything about ALL the topics posted on this forum - ignorant of long time paid subscribers - AOL is thumbing their nose at all longtime loyal users !

  3. SAVING an EMAIL

    Evidently the "SAVE" on the bottom border is not working..
    here is the response to me from Product Support ..
    (Why isn't there ONE PLACE to learn all the FEECHURS ?!?!?!

    You can now save a copy of your emails as a PDF or Text file on your computer, which can be accessed outside of the AOL Desktop Gold.

    To do this, open an email from your mailbox, then click on File on the top left and select Save from the drop-down menu. You can type a name for the file in the “File Name” box, select the location…

  4. AOL Gold -- the worst ever?????

    I don't know whose idea it was to make Gold, but it is sure worse than the earlier versions. Just try scrolling through the opening pages and see how long it takes. FOREVER! ! ! Then there are a lot more advertisements. Everything has ads and they take forever to load and move on to the next screen. I continually try to use the "Quick Find" in the e-mail address section but it does not find many of my addresses. I need to arrange them in a certain way to see if that address exists, rather than trust Quick Find…

    I appreciate your feedback. I’m sorry to hear the Gold experience wasn’t pleasant for you so far. We are updating the software every two weeks.

    In case the Quick Find is not finding your contacts when searching by their first or last name, it is possible that the contact does not have their name added to your address book. In this case, it is easier to search by the email address rather than the first or last name, or edit a contact and add their name to your address book.

  5. Why does AOL Gold no longer tell us where a message has been saved?

    DON'T simply say a message has been saved, tell us WHERE it was saved. Between AOL Gold's colossal stupidity or coyness about where a message got saved and Windows' "hovering" feature, I sometimes have to try half a dozen times to put a message where I can retrieve it. And THAT doesn't even BEGIN to address the clutter in my filing cabinet. This problem didn't occur with AOL 9.7, which I think was vastly superior to AOL Gold. Why are we paying for an inferior product full of ****** advertising and no-news "news?"

  6. Is Your AOL GOLD running slowly? HERE'S THE SOLUTION

    I had problems with AOL Gold. It was running slow, take forever for Welcome Window to open and the same with the email.

    I contacted AOL tech. They took control of my computer and made some changes. Also had me subscribe to System Mechanic.

    Seemed to solve the problem but the next day the same problems.

    I finally found the solution researching on the web. Easy to do. Just follow the directions. I'm no techie. It will also speed up Chrome and all the other browsers. This is easy. Link below.

    Try to clear the Footprints and follow the steps again.

    Here’s how:

    a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu.

    Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.

    If you still encounter issues call us at 1-888-265-3733.

  9. Autofill addressing prevents typing new addresses.

    Addressing E-mail does not allow me to enter https://..... without automatically inserting the wrong address from stored addresses. I am trying to send a message to Microsoft billinginfo and cannot do it. Very frustrating. Please fix the bug.

    The https:// prefix is a part of a web address, and is used only when accessing web-sites (is not used in email addresses). Please check the correct email address before sending the email.

    What the **** is going on AGAIN . My PATIENCE IS RUNNING THIN. Just turned on my computer and see that 9.8.2 is NO LONGER available.
    Three days ago I got the AOL ALERT Msg , about Only using AOL GOLD, (Which is a Piece of *) Then after having to wait over 20 minutes listening to Twangy music, a AOL tech kept saying how SORRY AOL WAS for wait time And Not INFORMING AOL people that a DRASTIC CHANGE WAS BEING MADE. AOL 9.8.2 was NOT BROKEN. Then a day later 9.8.2 was back., NOW 9.8.2 IS GONE

  12. Store emails on our PC rather than on AOl Desktop Gold.

    AOL tech support reinstalled AOL desktop gold on my computer. All of the emails that I had saved under the folder "save on my PC" from August 2017 to present were not there. I have contacted tech multiple time since discovering this issue. Many were not able to understand the problem. The last person understood the problem and told me that the email files were not saved on my PC but rather on AOL Desktop Gold. He believed that the files were still there someplace but that the tech support personnel in his office had no way of knowing…

  14. AOL settings, Browser, Saved Passwords

    I had a Remote hookup with a AOL support person yesterday afternoon 7/18/25. I was having problems logging on to a specific website (MSC Crusies.com) my Browser "Google Chrome" as my primary browser thru AOL/windows10 .Aol settings and Windows settings would just go blank and back me completely out of AOL and put me back on my main Windows10 home page everytime. Well anyway, the AOL Support person hooked me to the Remote operation mode. She tried several different operations. She also backed up my AOL Desk top and AOL and I thought AOLdata in my info.     AOL Desktop Gold uses fonts that are available by default for most users. Fonts on any specific computer are only on that one computer, meaning, if you were to write an email using a custom font on your computer, it would not be the same font on the computer where a recipient is reading that email which could corrupt the view the sender was expecting.  

  16. Email groups missing

    I just spent about 90 minutes with AOL tech support to try and fix why all of my email address groups disappeared. I tried to add a new group and AOL had a glitch and logged out. When I logged back in all of my email address groups were missing. I was told by tech support that they could not back up my address groups. I have maybe 60 different groups so I told them I was not a happy camper. Has anyone else had this issue? The tech support guy even installed a newer version of AOL Desktop Gold…

    Why is old mail deleted showing up again! Why are there multiple places we have to go to delete email........it's a waste of time & very time consuming........ Do you stay up all night trying to find more ways to make being an AOL member more difficult than it already is???

  19. When will these be finally fixed? We have been waiting a very long time with only promises

    1. Freezing up when trying to open and AOL "not responding"
    2. Double spacing when writing emails
    3. Emails that go out when "send" is clicked and not getting "error, try again" message
    4. Stationary and added features (some animated) that used to be part of 9.7
    5. Ability to send out larger files for photos and videos
    6. Fixing refresh button so that you don't have to do it a dozen times just to refresh once
    7. AOL just signing off for no reason when you are in the middle of doing something, except when you want to sign off and then it freezes

    First of all, let me start by saying that I have been an AOL customer for more than 20 years and I am really mad. Bring back 9.8.2. This version stinks. When I try to print my emails, it leaves out half of the previous emails/responses. The old version told you whether or not you had any emails and how many when changing screen names, this one does not. You have to switch and sign on to find out if you have any emails. There are also other issues with the software. And to think for all these problems posted…
