  1. Thank's for taking those annoying ads of the write page but please bring back 9.8 so I can pick the sounds I want for my AOL greetings etc.

    Combine the best of both 9.8 and Gold and stop trying to make changes we don't want. I DO PAY for my AOL every month and will not continue to if you keep *****with it.

    The custom greeting sounds are now available with the latest update for the AOL Desktop Gold. To customize your greeting sounds, follow these steps:

    1. Open the AOL Desktop Gold and sign on.
    2. Click on the ‘Edit’ menu on the top left.
    3. Select ‘General Settings’ from the drop-down menu.
    4. Go to the ‘Personalization’ category on the left.
    5. Select the ‘Sounds’ tab.
    As an alternative you can go to the Keyword(CTRL+K): sounds.

    To choose the sound categories, click on the ‘Options’ button, and after selecting your preferred greetings click on ‘Apply’. You can also preview the sounds before and after applying them, by clicking on the Play button next to the sound name.

    If you do not have the custom greeting sounds, it means that you will have to upgrade your AOL Desktop Gold software to the latest revision. To do that, click on the ‘Help’ menu…

    Fix my email ASAP. I am a business and I need to send out a very important email to a client and each time I try a mail signature from some Talbot company in Ft. Lauderdale, FL keeps coming up. I live in Surprise AZ. I checked my email signature and it is not my signature. What is going on?????

    The idiots at AOL have removed many useful features from an otherwise efficient AOL 9.8 program and added a bunch of dumb, useless and inefficient tript to AOL GOLD (which should be renamed AOL SLUG *). This can be hopefully helpful since so many of the AOL phone contacts are unproductive and inconsistent from one tech to another.     We anticipate all older versions of the AOL Desktop software to change over to AOL Desktop Gold over the upcoming year. We developed this new and enhanced AOL Desktop Gold software to replace the older AOL Desktop versions on the market today.

    In order to update to Gold, you will need to update your Windows software to the latest Windows Operating System. The minimum system requirements for the latest version of the AOL Desktop software are Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Internet Explorer 7+

    You will no longer be able to access your old AOL Desktop software, but you will always be able to access your email through an external browser like AOL Shield at mail.aol.com

    To download and install the AOL Shield for older operating systems as Windows XP/Vista, please follow the steps from the following help article: https://help.aol.com/articles/aol-shield

  6. Next time you have an upgrade try not to have it affect access

    A weeks ago on AOL a popup came up about an upgrade and I clicked it on and after that, I was not able to access AOL from the icon I have on my desktop. Your support team worked on this but when we kept trying to access it again from desktop again, it wasn't opening as it should

    Desktop Gold met my requirements. I get a new computer and I cannot reach you except through another ISP. This is unpleasant and ridiculous. FIX IT.

  9. On the chatting site my comments are not displayed and nobody is able to see it. I would like to know if I am censored.

  12. Privacy settings problems AGAIN

    I do not turn off my computer - ever! I have set Privacy Settings to allow everyone to see my content, more than six times already. But every time I try to play a game I'm told I have to set my Privacy Settings. I click to ON and it doesn't work. I click to OFF and it doesn't work - I can't play a game. Get rid of this bug because it's INFURIATING!

  13. Videos in your news stories do not play !

    When I try to see your news stories, 3 out of 4 times, I get a blank, black (or white) screen with no video, no text from the story and only hear the audio from the video. After r-loading page 3 or 4 times....sometimes it all shows up and plays OK. Not good.

  14. My inbox is getting more and more COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENTS. I pay for AOL service, I do NOT PAY TO HAVE TO DELETE unwanted email.

    My idea is for you to NOT keep sending me emails that are ADVERTISEMENTS. i'M SICK TO DEATH of money-grubbing huge multinational corporations trying so desperately to get MORE AND MORE AND MORE MONEY from me, and other people with limited incomes. It's disgusting and you people ought to be ashamed of yourselves. But of course you are not, because MONEY is all that will ever capture your attention.

  15. For the past few months that AOL tech's installed the new Gold on to my computer I have nothing but trouble. First it is slower than the Blu

    I have the Gold Aol and it is much slower than the blue.
    When I get on it takes about 20 clicks to get into my mail.
    The dialog box is much smaller because of you ads. Put your ads in another space.

    1. Clear the Footprints in the new AOL Desktop. Here’s how you clear the Footprints: a. In the top left corner of the AOL Desktop window, click “Edit” then choose “Select Footprints to Clear” from the drop-down menu. b. Select “Clear Footprints” from the Browser Settings. No need to wait for a confirmation message, the Footprints will be cleared immediately.

    I am doing more work than is necessary because you decided that it's better. I hate the fact that when trying to save a picture it automatically goes to download, and then I have to find where I want to put it. Also, when looking for a picture the setting is on video and I want all files, so again, I am doing the work. I sure hope you find a better edition soon....

  17. I need to access my e0mail without logging in

    I need to be able to see e-mail stored on my PC without being connected to the internet. Actually, I wonder if Gold is actually storing anything on my PC anymore, as the system uses an awful lot of data just to "view" one e-mail. The slowness of the system opening and the way it "freezes" my whole computer makes me wonder what it's actually doing to my data.

    Unfortunately, the option to see the emails while offline is not available at the moment in the new software, but we are making more features available with every update to the new AOL Desktop. We will make sure that this gets to the appropriate team for review.

  19. chrome update

    Chrome Browser is very out of date. AOL Gold on new windows 11 computer uses chrome 106. Google docs, secure payment sites and other highly secure site will not accept this. However, if I open AOL in another browser, firefox, chrome, etc access the same email i can open the links. Why will AOL not update my browser to the latest version. Have worked with your technical support team and the lead of the department. We have uninstalled and reinstalled AOL and the old browser still populates. This has been going on for months.
